In my 23 years in real estate, I've learned that the best agents don't build successful businesses because they're the best negotiators or have the biggest marketing budgets. They build them because people know they genuinely care.
Ryan Serhant said it well: "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."
That couldn't be more true in real estate.
Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions people will ever make. My first priority has never been simply helping someone close a transaction. It's understanding my clients' short-term goals, their long-term dreams, and how I can help them make decisions today that benefit them for years to come.
That's what being Your Realtor for Life means.
More than 90% of my business comes from referrals and repeat clients. That isn't because I ask for referrals every chance I get. It's because I stay connected, continue providing value long after closing day, and genuinely care about what happens next in my clients' lives.
Follow-up isn't about chasing business. It's about building relationships.
Here's how I approach it.
Many agents disappear once the keys are handed over. That's where lasting relationships begin.
Whether my clients are thinking about refinancing, preparing for their next move, wondering what improvements will add the most value, or simply curious about what's happening in their neighborhood, I want them to know they have someone they can call.
Real estate isn't a one-time transaction. It's a lifelong relationship.
People want to work with people, not automated systems.
A personalized video, a thoughtful phone call, or a message referencing something important happening in a client's life goes much further than a generic "just checking in."
Every interaction should remind clients they're more than a file in your CRM, they're people whose goals matter.
One of the fastest ways to lose trust is to make every conversation about buying or selling.
Instead, share information that genuinely helps:
Market updates that affect their home's value
New opportunities in their neighborhood
Interest rate trends
Advice on renovations and home improvements
Resources that make homeownership easier
When you consistently provide value, clients begin to see you as their trusted advisor—not just their real estate agent.
Sometimes a client isn't ready today.
That doesn't mean they won't be ready six months or even six years from now.
Staying in touch with genuine care, not pressure, keeps you top of mind when the timing is right.
People remember the professionals who stayed connected without expecting something in return.
The market will always change. Technology will continue evolving. New marketing strategies will come and go.
But one thing never changes:
People want to work with someone who truly cares about them.
That's why I've built my business around relationships instead of transactions. Every client deserves someone who's invested not only in today's purchase or sale, but also in helping them achieve their long-term financial and personal goals.
That's what Your Realtor for Life means to me.
The greatest compliment I receive isn't another sale, it's when a past client calls years later, refers a friend or family member, or simply reaches out because they know I'll always be here to help.
Because at the end of the day, people may forget the statistics you shared or the marketing plan you presented, but they'll always remember how much you cared.
