Dining for the Holidays: A Washington Real Estate Insider’s Guide

Blog Kristi Jenkins December 22, 2025

The holiday season is here, and one of my favorite ways to celebrate is by gathering with family, friends, and loved ones over a memorable meal. As someone who’s been deeply involved in Washington real estate, I’ve had the chance to explore some of the best dining experiences across our state, and I want to share my top picks for festive meals that make the holidays truly special.
Why Holiday Dining Matters in Washington

Washington isn’t just about stunning landscapes and thriving neighborhoods, it’s also a culinary treasure. Over the years, I’ve learned that enjoying the right restaurants is just as important as finding the perfect home. Holiday dining isn’t only about the food; it’s about creating lasting memories with the people you care about. Whether I’m entertaining clients, celebrating with friends, or enjoying a cozy dinner with my own family, choosing the right spot always elevates the experience.

Holiday Dining Spots in Washington

Here are some of my recommendations, featuring a mix of cozy spots, elegant dinners, and seasonal experiences that I love sharing with clients and friends.

1.Carmine’s – A Personal Favorite

We’re starting with my absolute favorite. Carmine’s holds a special place for us, we celebrated our anniversary here earlier this year, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is warm and timeless, and the food is incredible. If you go, order the gnocchi or the cannelloni, they’re hands-down my two favorite dinners and truly unforgettable.

2.Joey-University Village and Bellevue

Joey is one of those rare places where everyone in your group can find something they love. If you’re dining with people who can never agree on what to eat, this is the solution. The menu is diverse, approachable, and consistently good. My go-to? The Mediterranean Bowl.

3.Duke’s Seafood-Bellevue

Locally owned and proudly Northwest, Duke’s is a staple for a reason. While I’m allergic to shellfish, I still love coming here for the fish tacos and the parmesan-crusted halibut. It’s comforting, reliable, and always feels like a true local favorite.

4.Daniel’s Broiler-Bellevue

Daniel’s is extra special to me, I worked here back in college and still love everything about it. Walking past the open kitchen and watching steaks cook on their signature 1,800-degree grill never gets old. Don’t miss Prime 21, their speakeasy-style lounge, which is perfect for a drink before Snowflake Lane or a show. And if dessert is involved (it should be), the vanilla bean crème brûlée is my absolute favorite, I’m very picky about crème brûlée, and this one is perfect.

5.Fogo de Chão

This one is all about the experience. Fogo de Chão is fantastic for families or anyone celebrating something special. Come hungry—you will not leave that way.

6.John Howie Steak

An excellent date-night spot with incredible steaks, but what really keeps me coming back is the Happy Hour menu. It’s extensive, delicious, and such a great way to enjoy the restaurant without committing to a full dinner.

7.Seastar-Bellevue

Another John Howie restaurant and a great family-friendly seafood option. They’re well known for their sushi and raw bar, but my personal favorite is the mahi mahi. It’s consistently excellent and worth ordering every time.

8.Ascend-Bellevue

We always end strong with Ascend. This is where we celebrate Christmas Eve every year with my in-laws, and it feels like an occasion every single time. The cocktails are creative, the sushi and appetizers are incredible (especially the jackfruit cakes), and you must finish your meal with the Magic Mushroom. Trust me, it never disappoints.

My Tips for Stress-Free Holiday Dining
  • Book Early: The holidays are busy, so I always make reservations well in advance.

  • Check Holiday Menus: Many of my favorite spots offer special seasonal menus, call ahead to see what’s available.

  • Private Dining: For family or client gatherings, private rooms at Ascend Prime or El Gaucho can make your meal extra special.

  • Mix Restaurant & Takeout: Some restaurants offer catering or take-home options, which is great if you want restaurant-quality food at home.

Why I Recommend Exploring Local Dining

As someone deeply involved in Washington real estate, I often tell clients that a home isn’t just the walls you live in, it’s the community, the neighborhood, and the local experiences that make it truly feel like home. Dining at these local spots during the holidays is a wonderful way to connect with your community, discover new flavors, and make lasting memories.
