Nestled between glistening Lake Sammamish and the snow-capped Cascade Mountains, Sammamish is known for being one of Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live”, as featured in their 2018 article Sammamish, Washington: MONEY's No. 9 Best Place to Live in 2018 | Money. With its exceptional schools and proximity to several of the world’s tech giants, combined with 14 parks and loads of outdoor activities, it’s no wonder why people call this city home. Having called Sammamish home since 1986 and raised my kids here, I have witnessed the many changes Sammamish has seen, yet still remains true to its well-planned neighborhoods, diverse population and natural beauty.

Here are a few of my favorite spots:

  • Beaver Lake Park & Lodge, with its waterfront beach, covered picnic area, sports fields, play area and dog-friendly off-leash park has just about everything you want in a neighborhood park and has been our go-to for more than 30 years:
  • Sammamish Cafe, known for it’s old-fashioned diner feel, but upscale quality food, is a perfect spot for breakfast or lunch. My favorite? The California omelet with a side of hash browns and pumpkin pancakes!
  • VCA Pine Lake Animal Hospital is where we go for all of Sassy’s care – both medical and grooming. They are so caring and Dr. Adams is one of the best vets we’ve ever met! If you’ve got a fur-baby, you won’t be disappointed with VCA.
  • For golf and community integration, you’ll want to check out The Plateau Club, part of Oki Golf. The 18-hole championship course offers a rec center with outdoor pool, tennis courts and dining room, summer kids camps and lots of community events for the whole family.
